High Dynamic Range
Via software designed specifically for this type of imagery, a wider range of values normally not possible within a camera and printer's capabilities are fused into the image; several images of the same scene but with different exposures are used. The program allows the final image to be rendered realistic to surrealistic in appearance, then further work in Photoshop fine-tunes the photograph. Even a scene short of high dynamic can be made to look rather unique; running a single shot through the program produces some interesting results.
