Collecting ceremonial masks and being exposed to dotted dream paintings of the Australian Aborigines spawned this technique. Masks have been a favorite subject matter for several artists, including Picasso, Braque, Nolde, Klimt, and many others, so that's not new, but the implementing of my own techniques places them into their own separate category. I have tried to maintain the characteristics of each particular culture by incorporating their designs, colors, and symbols into each piece -- sort of like my own version of historical fiction.
